The late Dr. Vicente L. Dañguilan established the clinic in 1947 after his graduation from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. It started as a simple medical clinic, which eventually evolved into a lying-in facility. The lying-in section of the clinic closed in 1962. The clinic has been in continuous operation from 1947 to this date except for a 32-month hiatus from April 1976 to December 1978 when Dr. Dañguilan was unable to hold clinic due to a terminal illness and his subsequent demise.
The Clinic reopened in January 1979 with a new name- the VICENTE L. DAÑGUILAN MEMORIAL CLINIC (VLDMC). Drs. Justo J. Dañguilan and Maria Corazon Mercado-Dañguilan, graduates of the Radiology and Neurology residency programs respectively of the University of the Philippines- Philippine General Hospital managed it. Services offered by the clinic at that time were medical and neurological consults and radiology and laboratory examinations. Eventually, electrocardiography and more radiological procedures were added and the menu of laboratory examinations was expanded. In 1987, diagnostic ultrasound was added to the list of services.
In January 1993, the clinic moved to a new and bigger building at its present site at 76 Burgos Street. Here, services were further expanded to include electroencephalography, bacteriology, fluoroscopy, and mammography among others. The clinic also opened its doors to other physicians in the community- a pediatrician, general surgeon, obstetrician-gynecologist, ophthalmologists, pathologist, optometrist, dentist and dermatologist. Appended to the clinic, though managed by other groups, were the CT Scan Center and the Dialysis Center.
